Natalie Franco (Ryman ‘97)

Natalie Franco is an award-winning fine art photographer and master educator based in Los Angeles. The repertoire of Natalie’s works, guided by her Mexican-American heritage, expands into capturing visual narratives internationally. Natalie’s work has been featured in 40+ collective exhibitions, and has been represented by leading galleries and institutions. Natalie has also styled for multiple international fashion houses and is a returning guest lecturer at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Natalie graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Natalie says that Ryman Arts paved the way for fulfilling her dream to pursue a career in the Art world.

Helena Hsieh (Ryman '99)

Helena Hsieh received her BA in English Literature from UCLA (2004), her BFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute (2008), and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston/Tufts University (2012). She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Helena has received awards including an Artist in Residence at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, and a Post-Graduate Teaching Fellowship from SMFA. Her work has been featured in publications such as Fresh Paint, Studio Visit, and New American Paintings.

Chris Melby (Ryman ‘91)

Chris Melby is a professional Interactive Artist who has a love for all things art and computers. While in high school, he was one of the first recipients of the Herbert D. Ryman scholarship which shaped his career path. In college, he focused on life drawing and watercolor courses and eventually landed his first artist job in the game industry. Over a 20-year career, he has worked on projects for companies from MGAE to Qualcomm. He is currently working on game development when he's not out walking with his dogs in the Redwoods or on the local beaches.

Michelle Wiener Ohm (Ryman ‘00) lives and works in Los Angeles. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies and Otis College of Art and Design, she has dedicated her life to art. Her work is primarily concerned with the representation of women in popular culture. She is a Teaching Artist and Education Assistant at the Armory Center for the Arts, and Adjunct Faculty at Woodbury University and Los Angeles Valley College.

Glynnis Reed (Ryman ’93)

Glynnis Reed has been working as a professional visual artist for 15 years. A Los Angeles native, she graduated with her MFA from UC Irvine and currently lives in Southern New Jersey. She creates explorations of natural environments. Glynnis composes narratives of love and loss, fulfillment and emptiness, and shadow and light, working in photography, mixed media, collage, and painting. The diversity of her art practice reflects her conceptual approach to art and the materials she uses to communicate her ideas.
