5th Annual BIG DRAW LA is Here!

By Justin McInteer, The Big Draw LA Coordinator

This October marks the fifth year Ryman Arts will present The Big Draw LA to audiences across Southern California and we’re really looking forward to all the upcoming events this year.  Organizations of all shapes and sizes will be hosting a variety of drawing activities throughout the region:  You can draw Roman fashion figures at the Getty Villa, bring your dog to a pawprint painting session at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society, or trace projected landscapes at 1450 Ocean in the Camera Obscura Building.  You can draw with thread at the Fowler Museum, join a Sketchcrawl at Fullerton College, or collaborate on a large drawing based on Eric Carle’s illustrations at Pepperdine University’s Center for the Arts.  And this is just a small sampling!  With such a diverse selection of opportunities, there’s a Big Draw LA activity for everyone, even for those who say they can’t draw.

In addition to all the wonderful Big Draw LA activities developed by organizations in Southern California, Ryman Arts will present its giant drawing festival, Make Your Mark in the Park, again this year in Grand Park on October 11th.  Current Ryman Arts faculty and students will be facilitating a number of drawing stations throughout the park, encouraging attendees to participate in the art making festivities.

You can easily discover which Big Draw LA activities appeal to you by viewing our calendar on The Big Draw LA website or by downloading our mobile application and clicking on calendar.

Join us this October at some Big Draw LA events and let’s all draw together!
